- Is it really free?
- Yes. There is no charge, no API key and no watermark, and the MP3 is yours to use. The site is supported by ads rather than by charging for the audio.
- Do I need an account?
- Only to generate audio. Writing a script, importing a document and previewing voices all work signed out; when you press Generate you sign in - with Google in one click, or with an email and password - and your script stays on screen while you do. The site gets your email address, plus your name if you use Google - nothing from your Drive, Gmail or contacts.
- How do the subtitles work?
- The speech service reports the exact moment each word is spoken. Those timings are stitched across every part of a long render, grouped into readable cues, and written out as SRT or WebVTT.
- Can I use two voices in one file?
- Yes. Start lines with a name and a colon - Alex: … / Sam: … - then switch to Dialogue mode and cast a voice per speaker. Everything is stitched into a single MP3 with per-speaker captions.
- How long can a script be?
- You get 7,000 free characters per allowance - one long voiceover or several short ones. Use it up and it refills two minutes later, every time. Within a voiceover, long scripts are split at sentence boundaries, rendered in parallel and joined into one continuous file. Each account also has 50,000 free credits a month, one per character.
- Does my script leave my device?
- The text is sent to the speech service to be spoken - that is what produces the audio. The finished MP3 and subtitle files are assembled in your browser and never stored on our servers.
